KOTA TINGGI: Some 700 participants took part in the Daiman Chase the Light Relay at Taman Daiman Jaya here to promote healthy lifestyle and community bonding.

Daiman Group general manager Heng Song Teck said the event was unique as participants had to work in a group of four to complete the 12km route, instead of reaching the finishing line alone.

“The event is good for teamwork while participants can take the chance to enjoy the serenity of the housing estate,’’ he said.

Among the participants was 34-year-old teacher Mohd Jironi Riduan, who said the event was a good platform to meet old friends and make new ones.

Another participant Tan Song Hua from Batu Pahat took the opportunity to catch up with his running mates of more than 20 years.

“Relay marathon is more challenging for me, but it is also far more enjoyable to run with your friends,’’ he said.

First-time participant, executive S. Rekha Sureshkumar, 27, said she decided to take part in the event following her friends’ encouragement.
